Within the bylaws of the Vermilion Agricultural Society, it reads ” To support and corporate with other community groups involved in programs for the betterment of our community.”. With this in mind the Executive of the Vermilion Ag Society, along with the Concession Committee in charge of the water bottles, passed the motion to donate the following water bottles:
Wood Buffalo Food Bank, Fort McMurray – 2 palletsVermilion Fire Department – 1 palletCounty of Vermilion River Fire Departments – 10 flats to each department.
The decision to send 2 pallets to the community of Fort McMurray came after the news of the community there was under a boil water advisory until September.
“The community of Fort McMurray is in our thoughts and we feel fortunate to have water on hand that we can send in the spirit of helping those in our community, even when that community extends to the people of the Province of Alberta.”
“As well we would like to support our local Fire Departments as we head into the time of year when our Fire Department members are busy keeping our community safe from fires.”
