Located in the Town of Vermilion, Alberta, just west of the intersection of Highway 41 and old Highway 16 (2 km north of present day 16), the Vermilion Agricultural Society enhances the social and agricultural needs of the community it serves.

Through its' leadership the agricultural society:

Organizes social events
Every year since its formation in 1906, the agricultural society has ran an annual fair. Presently offered the last weekend of July, the fair includes a parade, trade show, animal judging, Pony Chuck wagon and chariot races, entertainment and agricultural/horticultural displays. Each year several thousand exhibitors showcase their talents in a friendly competitive spirit.

Creates new infrastructure
Creates new infrastructure that is used both by the society and local community. The stadium, curling rink and arena are used year round for various activities. The Heritage Pavilion (Butler Building) is often used for Auctions, social gatherings etc. Riding Clinics, 4-H, Team ropers are only a few of the groups using the facilities of the Society. The newly constructed Board Room is rented most evenings and weekends and includes groups from scrap bookers to politicians.

Encourages volunteerism
The success of any Agricultural Society relies heavily on the work of volunteers. If not for the work of a great many devoted people; over the years; the Vermilion Agricultural Society would not exist today as the successful organization it is.

Promote the community
Works closely with the town to promote the community as a great place to live, work, play or visit. The annual Vermilion Fair will see 24,000 to 26,000 tickets sold for the three day event. This amount of exposure for the town can be nothing but positive. The use by the society, of communications technologies such as radio and newspaper ads, this website, etc. also help to expose Vermilion to the world.

Works with other community oriented groups
Works with other community oriented groups, organizations, individuals to further enhance the needs of the community. The society works with Lakeland College rodeo club to help bring rodeo events to Vermilion. The society also has involvement with the local Communities in Bloom program. Monetary involvement with the newly constructed Regional Centre has helped to guarantee that its construction when forward.  Recently the Vermilion Agricultural Society has been in partnership with the Vermilion Curling Club to sponsor Farm Curl.
